Remember the Alamo
Hello all and welcome back to RR.com! This week and last week I've been in the grand state of Texas. Last week we were in Houston, this week it's San Antonio. Umm... it's hot. :) That's alright with me though because I love warmth and I've managed to work on my tan while walking from the hotel to the theatre! I pass by the Alamo every day on the way to work too. I think that's cool.
These past two weeks have been quite a shock to the system! The outside heat in combination with constant air conditioning inside drives a throat crazy. But we're finally back on United States mainland again!! Woo hoo! Don't get me wrong, I had a wonderful time in Tokyo and Hawaii but I just feel more at ease being closer to my family, friends, and Gabey. Plus, now there is only room for three hours of time change when traveling between cities. Fabulous!
Texas is nice. I really like the flavor of San Antonio. The riverwalk is charming, the Mexican food is delicious, and the people are generally nice (minus the homeless man who cussed me out on the way home from work tonight).
Another funny occurence happened opening night while I was chillin' on the riverwalk with Trish, Matt C., and Josh. This young man in a tuxedo walkes up to us carrying a boom box and says he wants to seranade us. We say "why not" and he sings us a lovely jazz ballad. It was a plesant suprise and he was really good. Then, he introduced himself as Gabriel Tristan! Hmm, Gabriel. Nice name. He handed us each his card, then he left. If anyone is interested, he does suprise seranades at work or seranades over the phone! Check Gabriel out if you get a chance!
Oh! I finished Arthur Golden's Memoirs of a Geisha. Sigh. Towards the end of the book I realized that I wasn't reading it very often, purposely. Then I realized why. The characters are so wonderful that I didn't want to finish the book and leave the characters behind! But finally I couldn't stand not knowing the fate of all of my newfound friends so I broke down and read the end. And hey, it's not so bad; I can conjure them up any time I open the book. I highly reccomend this book to everyone. It is now my new favorite book. :) The next book I'll be reading is a thriller called Incubus by Ann Arensberg. My friend (and the props master) David Speer reccomended that I read this book to scare myself to sleep. I'll let you know how it goes.
Attention San Antonio Locals!! If you love good live music come see my friends Joshua Kobak and Matt Caplan who will be performing their original music this Saturday night (tonight) at Planet Hollywood after the evening show (245 East Commerce; on the Riverwalk). Josh and Matt are in the cast of RENT and they are both very talented guitarists, singers, cha cha dancers... Umm... scratch the last one. Anyhow, they rock and I hope to see y'all there.
For those of you who can not be there but want coverage, don't worry. My camera lens can't get enough of them and I'll share what I see asap. BTW, you can learn more about Josh Kobak and his band SWIM on his website. As for me, I'm going to go listen in person. Peace, adios amigos.

Oh, and I jumped out of a plane in Hawaii with all of these people. I'll tell you all about it next time. And if you see my parents, don't tell them just yet. I want to send them the video first. Daddy, if you see this first... I love you!... and don't warn Mommy!
Y'all take care now!
