How To Enjoy A Massage
- Take a shower before a massage to help you relax and to warm up your muscles.
- Please turn off cell phones, and ringers of house phones.
- I will use crème or oil as a lubricant for your skin. I prefer to work on an unclothed body to keep the massage fluid and maximally effective. I promise to use professional draping methods to ensure your privacy, comfort, and warmth throughout the session. If you are uncomfortable disrobing completely, No Problem.
- The recipient's only job is to relax, as completely as possible. For those who find this hard to do, here are a couple of hints: breathe deeply and regularly, stressing the exhalation; allow the body and its parts to become heavy and sink into the table; as the therapist's hands locate areas of tension, consciously allow yourself to let go and relax into those areas.
- Close your eyes. See with your sense of touch. Feel your body both inside and out.
- If emotions surface, do not be afraid to give them expression. Sometimes during massage emotions will come up, and it is a great benefit if these can be let go of or worked through. At the very least, don't be afraid to sigh with relaxation or hum with pleasure.
- Before the massage, please tell me anything I should know about your body such as a Pregnancy, Allergies, Recent Surgeries or Injuries, Sprains, Bruises, Open Wounds or Skin Diseases to steer clear of, Sore, Tight Muscles or Scar Tissue you would like worked on. In some cases it is best if I work with your doctor. The massage we develop will be custom to your body and your needs.
- Give feedback if any manipulation feels particularly relaxing or is uncomfortable- but do not feel compelled to carry on a conversation. Good massage requires concentration and you will benefit from a deeper relaxation if you are not consciously thinking. Also let me know if the temperature of the room is not comfortable.
- Massage therapy promotes a release of toxins from the body tissues. In order to flush toxins from the body it is imperative that you drink a sufficient amount of water. Keep drinking until the water passed from the body is clear.
- During a massage you are lying down for at least an hour. This may cause dizziness upon sitting up. Therefore when getting up after a massage, please go slowly.
