(“I Claudius” “Dead Again”)
Oxford University, 1998
- Find Stillness Sometimes
- Start with the text for character development.
- Don’t make moral Judgements on Characters.
- Question what characters say about things and about other characters. Why do they say it? What is their angle?
- Acting is about imagination, pretending, artifice.
- Stanislavski is a good way to follow acting.
- “The Method” is a form of acting that begins internally.
- Be able to present work without it being too internal.
- Timing is Vital. And you must be able to think fast.
- Be aware of the effect you have on everyone else (including the audience)
- ALWAYS BE IN THE MOMENT because at all times when you’re on stage, SOMEONE IS WATCHING YOU.
